about

No amount of hyperbole is adequate to describe 'Problems Of Other Minds', the debut album from Manchester's Elizabeth Crompton.

All we can tell you is, when Elizabeth handed the album in, we were in no way prepared/equipped for what was about to hit us.

The album's lush synth waves and plaintive piano lines alone would be enough to make you go 'yeah, put me down for a copy of this', but once you hear Elizabeth's dream-state melancholic vocal delivery and the beauty of her weighty and emotional lyrics, you are transported into a state of borderline hypnosis.

From the first minute to the last, from the opening lines of 'Shelter' to the dying embers of 'If I Disappear', and everything in between, Problems Of Other Minds is heartbreakingly beautiful. With husband Tim handling production duties, the album delicately balances Elizabeth's bittersweet, gorgeous vocals with warm, analog synth and haunting piano. It's a masterclass in tension and restraint, with tracks so moving, hairs standing on end and lumps in throats will no doubt be commonplace.

"It’s definitely the most personal thing I’ve written" says Elizabeth, when interviewed for the WFR Magazine. "I want people to take from it what they take from it. But I will say that I’ve had my ups and downs, I’ve experienced some things that left me feeling broken and bruised, and this record was definitely a form of catharsis."
